Method

Step 1: Bake the Cake
  1. Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the cake mix box.
  2. Prepare the cake batter according to the package instructions and pour it into the greased 9x13 inch baking pan.
  3. Bake the cake for the time specified on the box or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. Once done, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool completely in the pan.
Step 2: Prepare the Jello
  1. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve one box of jello in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved.
  2. Add 1 cup of cold water to the jello mixture and mix well.
  3. Pour the jello over the cooled cake, making sure it seeps into the cake layers.
  4. Repeat this process with the other two jello flavors, allowing each layer to set in the refrigerator for about 1-2 hours.
Step 3: Frost the Cake
  1. Once the jello has fully set, remove the cake from the refrigerator.
  2. If desired, beat the cream cheese until smooth and fold it into the whipped topping.
  3. Spread the whipped topping mixture over the top of the cake evenly.
  4. Optional: Garnish with fresh fruit, sprinkles, or chocolate shavings.
Step 4: Chill and Serve
  1. Place the jello cake back in the refrigerator for an additional hour to let the frosting set.
  2. Once chilled, slice the cake and serve it cold.
